Gay Marriage—Nothing New Under the Sun

Gay marriage and homosexuality were part of the moral landscape faced by the first Christians in Ancient Rome.Given that the gay marriage agenda will be increasingly pressed upon Catholics by the state, we should be much more aware of what history has to teach us about gay marriage—given that we don’t want to be among those who, ignorant of history, blithely condemned themselves to repeat it. Contrary to the popular view—both among proponents and opponents—gay marriage is not a new issue. It cannot be couched (by proponents) as a seamless advance on the civil rights movement, nor should it be...

Is Superman gay? (DC Comics in a questionable business decision)

The Man of Steel? Lois Lane's lover? DC Comics has jumped the shark - maybe. But the DC Comics co-publisher appears to be contemplating changing the sexual orientation of an "established character:" One question asked at the DC panel today at the Kapow comic convention in London, was about DC co-publisher Dan DiDio's interview with The Advocate. Specifically over the decision not to change any character's sexual orientation when relaunching the DC Universe. At the time Dan stated they would introduce new LGBT characters rather than switch orientation, but the question asked why DC would switch race, size, age,...

Closer Look: Religious concerns over bullying bill

Some Illinois conservatives fear their children are about to face an assault on their morals and religious beliefs. They worry that state lawmakers will muzzle students who hold unpopular opinions and force them into indoctrination sessions. The cause of their worry? Legislation requiring Illinois schools to discourage bullying. The Illinois Family Institute claims the measure's real goal is "to use public education to promote unproven, non-factual beliefs about the nature and morality of homosexuality and 'transgenderism'." It sees the bills as a beachhead for "homosexual activist organizations" that want to indoctrinate students and teachers. Despite those broad concerns, the group's...

Dr. Robert L. Spitzer, Noted Psychiatrist, Apologizes for Study on Gay 'Cure'

This wasn’t just one web person,” one viewer wrote. “I can’t believe this wasn’t approved by anyone else. It was deliberate and was not...

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Challenges Manny Pacquiao's Opposition to Gay Marriage

Floyd Mayweather Jr. weighed in on the same-sex marriage debate recently, opposing rival fighter Manny Pacquiao's views on the traditional definition of marriage. Mayweather, undefeated 35-year-old fighter who won the WBA (Super) Light Middleweight Championship belt earlier this month, stood behind President Barack Obama's support for gay marriage. "I stand behind President Obama and support gay marriage," Mayweather tweeted Wednesday. "I'm an American citizen and I believe people should live their life the way they want." The tweet came days after Pacquiao, 33-year-old Christian Filipino boxer and congressman, reportedly disagreed with Obama's support of redefining marriage to include same-sex couples....
